This page has a wiki of its own: Bluey Wiki.

Bluey is an Australian animated television series. The series is a Ludo Studio production for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Principal production investment from BBC Studios, Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Screen Australia. Developed and produced with the assistance of Screen Queensland. The series made its premiere on Disney Junior in the United States on September 9, 2019 and is released internationally on Disney+.

Summary[]

The series follows the adventures of a lovable and inexhaustible anthropomorphic six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy who lives with her dad, mum and four-year-old little sister, Bingo. In every episode, Bluey uses her limitless Blue Heeler energy to play elaborate games that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways.

Characters[]

Main[]

  • Bluey Heeler
  • Bingo Heeler
  • Bandit Heeler (voiced by Dave McCormack)
  • Chilli Heeler (voiced by Melanie Zanetti)

Release[]

In June 2019, the international broadcasting rights to Bluey were acquired by The Walt Disney Company, with plans to premiere on the Disney Junior television network and be distributed on the Disney+ streaming service in all territories (excluding Australia, New Zealand and China) from late 2019. The series premiered on Disney Junior in the United States on 9 September 2019 and was later distributed on Disney+ on 22 January 2020 and in the United Kingdom on 1 October 2020.[1]

The second series debuted on Disney Channel in the United States on 10 July 2020. The distribution deal with Disney originally encompassed the first two series of the program; the third series was acquired in May 2021. The first half of the third series debuted on Disney+ in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other licensed territories on 10 August 2022, and was followed on Disney's television networks at a later date.

Trivia[]

  • The show's main typeface text font is Hello Headline by Deartype.
  • Most of the characters share the same eyebrow design.
  • In the Disney distributed version of the show, there are many contents changed or removed to "suit" American audiences.
    • In the Disney version of Hospital, the misspelled title card was fixed.
    • In the Disney version of BBQ, the word from the original Australian release "capsicum" is replaced with "pepper".
    • In the Disney version of Markets, they removed the horse taking a poop when Bluey and Indy run away.
    • In the latest AU version of Chickenrat, the sauerkraut makes Bandit burp. On the Disney distributed version of the episode, the burp was replaced with sneeze. Also, in the subtitles for the Disney version of said episode they incorrectly say that Bandit burps, but he still sneezes.
    • In the Disney version of Daddy Putdown, the part when Bingo asks Bandit how babies get in the Mother's belly was removed since it was, in Disney's eyes, a bit too cheeky and inappropriate.
    • In the Disney version of Taxi, the episode ends with Bandit saying "Oh, biscuits." before the screen fades out. In the original AU version of said episode, the ending continues with Bingo as Millicent pretending to barf on Bandit.
    • In the Disney version of Trains, the line “That's a piece of poo” was changed to “That's a slug”.
    • In the Disney distributed version of Escape the word axe was changed to pick.
