"Don't Forget" is the third and final single released from Demi Lovato's debut album of the same name.[1] It was released March 17, 2009.
Song information[]
On "In Tune With Demi Lovato", a short, two-part special that aired on the Disney Channel, Lovato had stated that "Don't Forget is one of the songs [on the album] that I relate to the most" and that she loves it because she got to "feel a lot of emotion while recording it". [2] Lovato performed the song on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 15th, 2009. The song is Demi's best-performing song so far from Don't Forget, peaking higher than the two previous singles.
Music and structure[]
"Don't Forget" is a moderate pop-rock song composed in the key of E major with 92 beats per minute.[3] It is set in common time.[3]. Demi's vocal range spans from C4 to E5. [3]
Reception[]
Don't Forget has been critically acclaimed by critics. Michael Menachem of Billboard called the song "[a] vulnerable and breathy vocal" that "opens the midtempo power ballad, showcasing Lovato's falsetto and then slamming into high gear with a rocking instrumental."[4]
Music video[]
The official music video (directed by Robert Hales) was shot in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, and released March 2009.[1] The video begins in a tour bus where Demi Lovato's band can be seen. Lovato is then shown sitting next to a window, and precedes to sing the first few lines. As the song progresses, she walks in the rain holding an umbrella, where she continues to sing. Lovato is then shown in front of a carousel, still holding her umbrella. When the song reaches the bridge, Lovato and her band perform in the rain with the water changing colors in the background. As the last verse approaches she is shown back on the tour bus where the video began. When the song finishes a single tear rolls down her cheek. The music video was released on the Hollywood Records official YouTube channel.
Chart performance[]
"Don't Forget" debuted at number 68 in the Billboard Hot 100. [5] In the week of March 30th, after Hollywood released the music video, "Don't Forget" shot up 36 places from #84 to #48, and later peaked at #41.
