Saturdays is an Disney Channel Original Series single-camera coming-of-age comedy about a young girl and her competitive roller skating crew, from 16-year-old Marsai Martin via her Genius Entertainment and writer-executive producer Norman Vance Jr.. Charles Stone III (Drumline, black-ish) will direct.[1] It premiered on March 24, 2023 on Disney Channel and the next day on Disney+ with the first 6 episodes.[2] The show ended on May 12, 2023 and it was cancelled after one season on November 7, 2023.[3]
Synopsis[]
Saturdays follows Paris, who, since the age of four, has been honing her skills on the cool parquet floor of Saturdays, a local skating rink owned and operated by a former '90s hip-hop back-up dancer. With its neon lights, galaxy-painted rink and killer D.J. spinning the latest music, Saturdays is the place to show and prove. Paris is the leader of a skate crew and is determined to take them all the way to the top. However, she has sickle cell disease, and when it flares up, it'll take every ounce of determination to prove the doubters wrong, including her concerned family.

Production[]
On March 11, 2021, the pilot was ordered by Disney Channel.[10] On November 30, 2021, the series was officially picked up for to series. Production is slated to begin in May 2022.[11] On April 7, 2022, it was announced that Tim Johnson Jr. and Peyton Z. Basnight have joined the cast. Their characters were not in the original pilot.[4]

- In the pilot, Samantha A. Smith played a character named Roxy, who was cut when it got picked up to series.[10]
- However, she returns to guest star in the episode, The Return of Roxie.
- Danielle Jalade previously played Jazzlynn on the Just Roll With It episode, "Warlock World: War of the Warlocks".
- Jermaine Harris previously played Guion on the Bunk'd episode, "Roll Models".
- Mirabelle Lee previously played Nia on the Sydney to the Max episode, "Praise Your Voice".
- This is officially a part of the That's So Raven universe as its been confirmed by Disney Channel.
- This was also made history as the first single-camera show to be apart of the Disney Channel Universe, as all the previous shows were multi-camera.
