Wendy Blerble Corduroy is a major character on the show Gravity Falls, who is played by Linda Cardellini.
Background[]
Wendy is the cool, hip local girl that Dipper has a huge crush on. She's clever, friendly and aloof in a way that works for her.
While often playing social roles, she has also gone as far as to help the Pines twins out of serious dangers. Fun loving and rebellious, she frequently shirks responsibility for activities she finds more enjoyable, such as hanging out with her rambunctious friends or going on adventures with Dipper and Mabel Pines.
Personality[]
Wendy is a mellow, down-to-earth, tomboyish, fun-loving, and slightly lethargic teen. She is a part-time worker at the Mystery Shack. She generally takes a positive outlook, is nearly always friendly, and is barely seen being moody or cranky. Wendy is just like any other ordinary teenager who wants to be an adult. She has been in numerous relationships with boys such as Ruster Om, Eli Hall, Stoney Davidson, Mike Huerley, Nate Holt, an unnamed guy with tattoos, Danny Felman, and Mark Epstein (whom she forgot to break up with) and from "The Time Traveler's Pig" to "Boyz Crazy", Robbie. She seems to be friendly and generous to Dipper even though he is younger than she is.
Physical appearance[]
At the current age of 15, Wendy is a very tall and skinny high school student. She has fairly pale skin and freckles, green eyes, long auburn hair, and is usually seen wearing a tan-and-brown lumberjack hat, most likely because Manly Dan, her father, is a lumberjack. Her standard outfit is a jade plaid shirt with a white tank top underneath, black leggings, and muddy rain boots. She also wears gray/blue earrings and is occasionally seen with a name tag.
Trivia[]
- Her surname, "Corduroy", is a ribbed type of cotton fabric.
- Wendy's character was initially inspired by a real life person, but has also received inspiration from several other real life people. Alex Hirsch has said that "the first girl who ever talked to [him] when [he] was around eleven inspired Wendy."
- She's often compared to Merida from Brave since they're both tomboys with three younger brothers. Furthermore, both are redheads.
- She used to wear braces (like Mabel), ponytails and tucked her shirt in.
- Instead of Christmas her family would prep for the apocalypse.
- Wendy now wears Dipper's hat since Wendy exchanged hats with him at the end of the summer, so he would remember her, and she gave him a letter stating "See you next Summer!"
- On August 2020, creator Alex Hirsch said that Wendy is bisexual on Twitter.[1] Wendy is a mellow, tomboyish, laid-back 15-year-old part-time employee at the Mystery Shack, and she stated that she had many boyfriends in the past, including one ex-boyfriend with whom she cannot remember breaking up.
- Wendy is the third LGBT Disney protagonist, the first two being Amity Blight and Luz Noceda of The Owl House (even though Wendy predates Amity and Luz as characters, Amity and Luz was the first to be confirmed LGBT).
- She is one of 3 LGBT characters in the show, alongside Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland.
- She is the only one of them who is female.
